GDB X: Another provincial civil war

Watching the Oilers come back from a 4-1 deficit last game against the Blue Jackets was really something. Like Gregor and Brownlee alluded to yesterday, it's been pretty unreal watching PDP blow fans, hangers-on and bandwagon-jumpers away. Even Hemsky came alive!
And this gives me hope.
Now let's hope this fekkin' flu bug that's knocked Gilbert Brule and Mike Comrie out of the line-up has run its course. I'd hate for hope to fade.
Battle of October
Can someone please explain to me why we've played the Flames twice since the beginning of the season? Tonight marks the third iteration of the Battle of Alberta. After this we don't play Calgary again until after Christmas — twice more before the New Year. After that, we play them one more time in January and that's it for the regular season.
Won't get fooled Iginla
After the knock-down blow Iginla dealt Souray in the last Battle of Alberta, there was a lot of fuss kicked up by, well, just about everyone. Was it deliberate? Will Pat Quinn's curmudgeonly ramblings result in more fines? Should Ignila have been fined too? Is Bulin staying hydrated?
The real question I think everyone wants an answer to is what's going to happen in tonight's game. Whether you believe Ignila's hit was dirty and deliberate or not (deliberate hit, yes, but surely he didn't intend to injury Souray to the extent that he did), you have to wonder what the Oilers have in mind for Iggy tonight.
A good, old-fashioned beat-down? And who rolls up their sleeves to get this done?
We need answers
Thankfully, we needn't wait much longer for answers to at least some of these questions. And although the Flames and the Oilers share the exact same record so far this season (6-2-1), I'd say the Flames have more to worry about than we do... The Oilers are playing spirited hockey.
And it's a blast to watch.
Oh yeah, check out what the competition has to say about tonight's game.
fist me!!
In the picture, are we running into battle, or cowaring and running away?
hehe the flames version kinda gave me a laugh though it seemed a little more hostile towards oilers tan oilersnation is toward flames but at least they agree the Nhl is stupid with their scheduling of the Battle of Alberta's

wtf 2 comments?
From Flames Nation, "It's the Battle of Alberta, baby. Would you want to be anywhere else? Enjoy the game and feel free to chitchat about how much the Oilers suck." I hope they get what's coming to them tonight.
Shapeman gives good WoWHead?
Seriously, according to Sportsnet's ticker on HockeyCentral, the Oilers lines are...
Penner-Gagner-Hemsky
Jacques-Horcoff-O'Sullivan
Moreau-Cogliano-Nilsson
Buchberger-Stortini-MacIntyre
Gilbert-Grebeshkov
Visnovsky-Smid
Strudwick-Chorney
I know they called up Peckham, so I assumed he takes Strudwick's spot and Strudwick plays 4LW. So whats up with Sportsnet? Buchberger? Seriously? Someone's having some fun... right?
@Chuck
I thought it was clear: the soldiers are charging into battle!
what better than a rocket with a smilely face on it?
Brule isn't back in yet? crap.
If we don't see round 1 of McGrattan vs. MacIntyre within the first 5 or 6 minutes, I'll be shocked.
OHHH hell yah, it's going to be a wild one tonight. JFJ, Peckham, Strudwick, MacIntyre, Stortini... let the fireworks begin.
Hopefully JFJ is up to the BOA tonight though, given he's suffering flu symptoms.
a decent looking blonde licking a guitar?
...or the artistic stylings of Mr. Bob Ross.
"Maybe a happy looking tree.... and an angggry looking mountain."
Gotta love Bob Ross. :P
Penner - Gagner - Hemsky combine for 10,000 points tonight. Moreau takes 18 PIMs in the offensive zone. Khabibulin gives Iggy a solid hack when he skates by the net in the 2nd period. Horcoff wins 1000% of his faceoffs but breaks into tears when the puck crosses centre.
Glencross gets 2 points, Reghere tries to plaster Gagner's head into the boards, Phaneuf makes incomprehensible grunting noises, Sutter's ears still look funny.
My predictions for tonight.
Dustin Penner On After Hours with Scott Oake tonight.
LET'S GO OILERS!
Horcoff 2 points, Oilers with win, mark my words!
Prediction time. Okay...
Final score: 4-2 Oilers. goals: Penner, Jacques, Comrie, Cogliano.
Pecks will ring in his return to the team with a TKO of Iginla.
hate to break it to you comrie didn't make the flight own unless they've announced otherwise recently he's not playing tonight
@Shapeman
Thanks. So, Horcoff instead of Comrie then.
sorry to break it to you mike but you should just take it as 3-2 oil, Horcoff would need to actually hit the puck rather then wiff all the time to score.
@Oilitsinyoutogive
LOL. Maybe it'll go in off his wallet...
@Librarian Mike
hahaha very nice didnt expect that. He almost seems to be missing more and more shots every game. Im glad at this point i picked one smelly goat!
Is anyone watching the Leafs game? Either that AHL team that T.O. has iced this year has learned how to forecheck or else Vancouver is worse than I thought they were.
This is blood for blood and by the gallon. These are the old days, the bad days, the all-or-nothing days. They're back! There's no choice left. And I'm ready for war.
Marv - Sin City
Yeah they both suck, vancouver just sucks a little less.
Won't complain about the leafs staying at 0 wins though.
Arise, arise, Riders of Theoden! Fell deeds awake: fire and slaughter! spear shall be shaken, shield be splintered, a sword-day, a red day, ere the sun rises! Ride now, ride now! Ride to Gondor!
King Theoden - Lord of the Rings
(I'm such a geek)
@Colin
I like TO going 0 for too, but If they were to get a win, it would be nice to see it come against Vancouver.
There would be nothing better than watching the Leafs give away the #1 pick away to Boston. Every ounce of me wants to see the Leafs break the record for least wins in a season.
Fill your hands you Son's of Bitches!
John Wayne - True Grit
I don't really understand all the hate for the Leafs (the current team). Obviously, they've gotten off to a bad start, and I don't expect them to be great, but they finished 12 points back of a playoff spot last year (in 12th place). Their only key departue - Pavel Kubina; key additions - Mike Komisarek, Francois Beachemin, Viktor Stahlberg, Jonas Gustavsson (?) & the injured Phil Kessel. On paper, they should be somewhat better than last season, especially once Kessel is healthy (although I'm not sure how big of an impact he'll have this season).
LET'S DOOOooooOOOooooooooo THIS!!!1!
"You do dirt with dirt"
Pat Quinn
1. Brian Burke. 2. They are the Leafs, you love 'em or hate 'em.
LET'S GO OILERS!!!!!!!!!
@The Towel Boy
YOU'RE GOIN' DOWN MU'PHUCCAZ!!
"I find your lack of faith disturbing."
Darth Vader
Oohhhhhhh RossCreek, it's GO time. Get it on!
RossCreek...RossssssCreek. ....*sigh*
I don't quite know how to tell you this, but the Oilers are kiiiind of a big deal right now. We have Dustin Penner.
@RossCreekNation
My Leaf hate stems from years of having them crammed down my throat in the pre-Interweb days, so I couldn't watch anything else on Saturday night.
Hey, hope you enjoy the game, dude!
*bows and takes 3 steps back*
Heather Liscano is GOING DOWN!!!
Start the 4th line. Start the 4th line!!
...in an adversarial type of "going down"...not the sexual kind of "going down."
*bows and takes 3 steps back*
@Racki
Aside from a brief love affair with the Leafs in the mid-90's (Pat Burns/Doug Gilmour/Felix Potvin era), I've always disliked the Leafs.
As for Brian Burke, I am a fan. I actually thought his reaction to the Penner offer sheet was unwarranted (although he stated he was pissed at the timing & lack of communication from Lowe, not the actual offer sheet). I supported Lowe during his offer sheet even though I'm not an Oil fan and I am a Burke fan.
No McGratton? FFS!
LOL!
@RossCreekNation
Well, for one, there is always a hate on for team that has been rammed down our throats every Saturday for all our lives. There's the 3 minutes of Leafs "highlights" compared to 1 minute of Oiler highlights every night on Sportsnet or TSN. There's the entitled whininess of the Leafs ownership group trying to Kibosh Hamilton getting an NHL team. There's also the hypocritical loudmouths (Burke and Wilson)leading the team this year.
For me, I just have a learned hate for all things Toronto.
Oiler fans are SOOO much more attractive then flame fans.
PP!!!!!
Come on PP!...*wishes Souray was here*
EFFING NICE!!!
