No doubt you've noticed some changes around here. Yeah, this is has been sometime in the making. We had to enslave an entire wing of the local library to find the nerd-power necessary to get this far. And on top of that, we had to buy majority shares in Jolt Cola to make sure everything launched on time.
This was all Wanye's idea. And when I asked him to help test the site tonight, he just yelled, "IHAVETOGOTOPOKER!"
So I tested it — along with developer boy-genius Jeffu.
And we registered and re-registered on the new sites. Until it was perfect**.
And when we phoned Wanye to tell him we were live, all he had to say from his poker game was, "What the f&*$?! What time is it? Holy crap, it took forever! You poor bastards working through the night..."
This was said in between loud cursing and the sounds of breaking glass.
But as sure as the sun rises, so do we... Ahem. I didn't mean for it to sound like that.
Welcome to the dawn of a new Nation (or Army depending on your timezone).
We'll be rolling out new features (and importing our old content) over the next little while, so stay tuned. In the meantime, register, comment and enjoy the sexy new look.

Hmm... OT wins usually are just classified as Wins though and that wouldn't effect total points. If it was OT Losses (in which case we get 1 point), THEN we'd be seeing our total points.
I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure it's just a mistake on the site.
They mentioned on HNIC that Montreal is looking for a DMAN and that one Edmonton's is the best bet. I can't think of anyone on montreal that I would trade for.

I would ship Grebs for him, but the cap space does not work. I would not ship Smid as we need his toughness on our backend.

No doubt! Remember how insane off-season's and Trade Dealines used to be? Hell after the lockout the entire NHL changed sweaters aside for maybe 3 or 4 people. Or something.
Smid is the one dman on this team that I'd keep beyond all reason. His skillset is the only one that isn't replicated anywhere else in our entire d corps.
How does the cap space not work? For them? Once they put Markov on LTIR they will have room for Grebs won't they?
Things will be messed up until the DNS switchover is complete. Best think of it as OilersNation stuck in limbo between the Enterprise transport pad and a location planetside full of scantily-clad green aliens. In several hours, things should work themselves out.
Currently the articles are all under bingofuel because we haven't got the other authors set up yet. Once they're in the system, we'll assign proper authorship.
Thanks for bearing with us on the transition folks. In the few weeks, we hope to have all previous archives, blogroll, polls, news feeds, and everything else you take for granted. This is a brand spanking new system written from scratch, so things will be phased in batches.

I should also mention comments are pretty limited at the moment. If you want paragraphs, you're stuck using HTML <p> tags. Links will need <a> anchor tags. We'll work on improving this soon.

I've noticed that the roll-over for the Voices of the Nation gets stuck going up and down.
Just a note, I can only access Oilers Nation through Firefox. Its not working in IE. I get a Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage message.

ya, I don't know. I am just a dumb fan that hasn't taken the time to read or learn the CBA. I was just looking at the straight numbers. Montreal has 2.11 mill cap space and the difference between Grebs and Lapierre is $2.463 mill.
The numbers may work and the point of my initial comment was Grebs seems to be the one guy I would trade. Souray and Smid bring toughness and size and attitude, while Visnovsky brings a good break out game. I don't think anyone will take Staios at this point of the season and Gilbert has too big an upside.
