GDB XX: Lunch time on the road

I don't know about you guys, but these Sunday afternoon PPV games don't provide a very good incentive for me to get out of bed. That's why I'm writing this in my full-body jammies with sewn-on feet from my bedroom. I'm also eating an entire ham in bed, but that's a typical Sunday morning tradtion that really has nothing to do with hockey or PPV games.
Today's game against the Thrashers marks 4 of a 5 games on this road trip, a trip in which the Oilers haven't fared too well. We've lost two out of three so far, and all because some cowboys are ropping cattle and drinking $8 beers inside RX1. Add to that the fact the Wanye has apparently flown the coup — he asked me to drive him to the airport yesterday after he packed himself a small hobo sack and didn't say where he was going — and things haven't been what you'd call "peachy" here in OilersNation.
But don't despair, the Oilers have a few things going for them:
- Pat Quinn is getting to the point where he must be scaring the shit out of the players with his rage at their poor play. I'd like to think that this is going to inspire the boys into playing, you know, hockey.
- As Brownlee indicated yesterday, Big Sex, Horcoff and Nilsson skated yesterday morning, and there's a chance they'll play today.
- Kovalchuk's foot is injured, and although he's been stopping pucks, I can see us making this work to our advantage with some net-crashing (though I certainly don't condone this).
Sure, these aren't game-makers, but I need some hope — something to hold onto. And the Oil? They need a win. Or six. Before Pat Quinn's had explodes.
This won't be an easy win for the boys in copper and blue — but they'll take the "W" 4-3. And they'll do it for Fernando Pisani.

It's not my feed so I couldn't say for sure. I check http://www.myp2pforum.eu/nhl-icehockey/ for feeds, especially for ppv's. Good place to find oil prospect feeds also.
BTW, first time poster long time reader. thanks to all contributors.
This game is on PPV/quasi-blackout so we don't have to watch this mess and develop bad feelings about this team.
Somebody hit someone ...anyone....
These guys need to burn it down and rebuild their system play from the bottom... again. They just keep rushing the blueline as one big plug running into a wall of defenders then making a short pass that either puts them offside or bounces off a leg and goes back the other way. Who is telling them to avoid the dump and chase? And why did Hemsky think that a cross ice pass to Horcoff who was basically standing on the red line would be a good idea. Not exactly the best one time set up in the world... Just balls.
I agree with No Hitter as well... was there a single hit by the oilers during the first other than the Visnovsky boarding fiasco?
Hey guys - hockeystreams.com has the feed, but ya gotta pay a few bucks. Its the PPV feed, Gene and all.
I hope they show that thing about Cogliano, Gagner and Gilbert living in the same house again!
Or that Fernando Pisani hockey school thing where Gene sucks at all the drills.
When I contribute to research for people dying of cancer, I get a donation receipt. When I give money to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, I get a donation receipt. When I pay for PPV to watch an ailing hockey team, shouldn't Ialso get a charity receipt?
@David S
Look who shows up late to the party.
Holy crap Zack has huge pipes!
Been drinkin' my man. Loooooong night.
It happens. And also, the rest of us are watching the game for free. So, I hope you didn't toss down some schekles for this crap fest.
Wow, Stortini actually looks like a good fighter in this segment.
It looks like that summer with big George for sure helped him.
I'm imagining an amazing hockey game being played right now. I can't see one or hear one so I can just imagine. I'm also imagining that it is 1985. Go team.
You b4stards. I was trolling the blogs to see where the feed was. Didn't see anything so I coughed up the 6 bucks. Of course, just as PayPal takes the blood money, someone comes up with a feed.
Hey WTF???
Anybody else have a rewind of the last 5 minutes of the game going on?
no, you have to pay 280 bucks for a home seat, 8 bucks a beer then win a silent auction at the game to get a charity receipt ( for the auction)
Garbage Powerplay.
That's pretty much it.
What the hell? Is this supposed to be some kind of arty garbage recapping the first period?
How is this enticing anyone at all to buy the PPV's?
Sorry to taint the boards of Oiler Nation with such unethical travesties...
A little bird told me to go to this page. I take no responsibility if Bettman cuts your head off.

Horcoff from Staois Whooooooooooooooo
WOOO! Staios redeeming his ealier penalty!
Oh snap, sorry guys. Its working password free right now though, so that is good news
well it's about time!!!
Nice tip there horc
@dustin timberlake
Oh nice. I was kind of worried we were going to have to dig around for insanely long passwords for the other 70 PPV games this season.
why was that under review?? my speakers aren't working...
Please give Cogliano some line mates that have the ability to score more than 5 goals a season. Please Quinn. You're our only hope.
Man, I'm starting to think I should have looked for a seat sale to Atlanta. The rink is DEAD empty!
Hemmers really been movin his feet, I wish more guys could keep up!
Why do they even schedule games on Sunday afternoon? The entire state is probably watching the Falcons game.
The Friday raping of the Kings looked like it was a pretty full barn.
Anyone else feel like Penner's been reverting recently? He could use a little kick in the butt imo.
Is that man sitting behind the ATL bench still alive? Someone should probably check his pulse.
@jeanshorts
The East just seems to love afternoon games for some reason. I mean, can you even get a skate in when the game starts at noon? I'm thinking it's just pregame warmups for the boys. I'd still be clearing cobwebs outta my melon.
@Jamie B.
I don't think so, his points over the last few games may not show it but he's consistently been one of the best players on the ice for either team all year.
Holy Effing Ess!!!!
I Heart Khabby!!!
The Falcons are playing right now, I think the fans in Atlanta cheer for the falcs slightly more than the thrash
@Rigger
We stopped playing HOLYCRAP KHABBY! Please boys he can't keep this pace up forever. Help him out a bit.
Anyway, we stopped playing afternoon games in minor hockey by the time we were like 13. So I have no idea why they schedule them for the pros.
I wish they'd stop ringing the first "pass" around the boards. The nearest thrasher picks it off EVERY time!!
@jeanshorts
I can't tell, are there a lot of blue hairs in the crowd? LOL! I can't imagine the boys like playing so early. Maybe like 5pm or something because then they can relax more in the evening, but noon is a bit of a stretch.
Little man in a canoe what?
God, it looks like Khabbi has already made like 20 saves in the last 3 mins. Brutes!
@Travis Dakin
Apparently the Crypt Keeper is a huge Thrashers fan.
Haven't ATL played 3 games in 3 and a half days?? shouldn't they be more tired due to the early start?? why is it only 1-1??
Someone nominate Geno for a journalism award!
@JRyanMac
You'd think so, but apparently that only happens to the Oilers.
smid looking like Coffey!!!1
Nope... GOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLL!!!!
