GDB 63: Oilers vs Preds

predator

The only thing busier than the OilersNation as trade deadline approaches is me as I write a GDB while I do my show.  That damn Wanye, how can I do two things at once? Oh yeah, the the Oilers play the Predators tonight too.

Liam Reddox draws in on the 1st line and Penner is slotted on the 3rd line with Cogliano and Pisani. Wow this won’t upset the NATION in the least will it? I like Reddox’s energy, but unless he proves me wrong I just wonder why he is there.

It is interesting, though, that yesterday Steve Ludzik said in my show "Penner’s abilities don’t fit on the first line. He isn’t fast enough nor does he makes the quick little plays. He isn’t a fit on the first line.” But I will put it out to the Nation: is Reddox that much better? I guess we will see tonight. Remember the first time he replaced Hemsky on that line not Penner, so that line will have an entirely different look against the Preds. J.F Jacques is in tonight on the 4th line and Pouliot will stay on the second line. Nilsson sits again it looks like -- trade bait or dog house? Only time will tell.

I understand putting Jacques in because of size, but Pouliot over Nilsson again is perplexing. Granted Nilsson has done nothing lately, but neither has Pouliot, and in my mind Nilsson still offers more than Pouliot, especially when neither are bringing much to the ice right now.

So the dope is when our second line scores, we're in good shape. All we need is for our first line to show up in the second period and we should be gold.

BRHL, as much as I hate to admit it MacT is gonna get a couple offers when he is done with the oil. How many coaches have been to the finals? How much did the oil have to work with other than 06' and the Katz years ahead of us. If we would have had Katz money to spend before the lockout we would have had a very competitive team under MacT.

Will you still be singing the same toon a couple of years from now when Gagner and Cogs are scoring 30 per year. The two of them are having a bad season but they will be very experienced for their age and great players in a couple years. This will have been done under T's watch.

I am not a huge supporter of MacT but he is getting a lot of fire because the pro's of the oil arnt performing. When you are getting paid to play in the highest league it is assumed that you will not need a coach to scream in your ear to get motivated. The coach is there to play the lines, set a system and steer the ship. The the players dont move the ship it doesnt matter what coach you have, they will still be motionless.

They rebuilt his leg. Now it's made of titanium and powered by hydraulics. It's pretty simple science really.

The thing about watching the oilers play is you could miss two or three months of watching them play and pick up right where you left them, same guys doing the same things, with the same results. Isn't that the definition of insanity?

Call my math Shaky... But if the Oilers earn the two points and Nashville gets only one... How would they end the night the way they started in the standings? Good analysis there Louie.
