10:14pm MDT update: Heatley will not waive his no-trade clause. He stays in Ottawa, and won't come here.

Earlier tonight: Just got off the phone with Gregor:

"The Oilers have traded Dustin Penner, Ladislav Smid and Andrew Cogliano for Dany Heatley. This will add $2.1 million to the Oilers' payroll."

He also mentioned that Hossa talks with LA have broken off.

Finally, the handsome devil teased me with this one: the Oil aren't done dealing yet.

OH EM GEE

@ Cam: Yeah, I agree with you there. Getting worried that the NMC won’t be waived…

I am listening to the Team and all reports are that he has said OK to the trade, so I think I will wake up happy tomorrow.

What a rat bastard! Thought Edmonton was supposed to be on his magic list.

Hope Murray has the balls/spite to make him ride the bus in the AHL for the next 5 years, though we all know the little bitch will end up going to New York for less than what we offered.

So that is 3 years in a row then right? Nylander, Hossa, and now Heatley. You would think people would be all over have Batman as the owner of the team you play for. At least our donair shops can breathe a sigh of relief.

Can't keep good players, can't get ufa's, can't get players who hate their own team and want to leave. I think I need to find a new hobby. Cheering for this squad is a dead end road. *heads hangs low*

Hey Gregor,

Great reporting! When does Heatley's flight arrive in Edmonton? LOL!

I like how the guys on Team 1260 act like the NHL has 'delayed' the transaction when TSN and DAN TANCER have reported that the deal is dead. Good job as usual guys!

Why the hell was Murray negotiating with us if he didn't have Heatley's verbal confirmation that he would go to Edmonton? We can't do that diligence...we can't talk to Heatley.

What a friggin joke...how great to Penner/Cogs/Smid feel about putting in the gym time to be ready to suit up for the Oil next season!

Classless. Absoluteley classless. I hope Murray doesn't try and trade him anymore. Let him sit at home for the next year. Asks for a trade and then nixes the only offer they get.

Comrie: "What's up Heater?"

Heatley: "Looks like they're moving me after all."

Comrie: "Coolio. Where you going?"

Heatley: "Looks like I'm off to Edmonton."

Comrie: "Dude, ...."

Looks like i got here just in time to see my hopes for getting a 50 goal scorer dashed.

Now what do the Oilers say to Cogs, Penner, and Smid? Uh...oops..i still love you baby, i was thinkin about you the whole time?

It's too bad, really, but let's not blame Tambellini here. He did what he should have done - made a reasonable offer to acquire a 50-goal scorer from a team in a tight spot.

This is very ugly, but it isn't ugly because of Tambellini.

Heatley bonus doesn't kick in til tomorrow @ midnight eastern, so there is 23.5 hours to get a deal done. Looks like Oil are out though.

And by the same token, let's not blame Murray either. He has to play hardball with Heatley, and I firmly believe he's prepared to make Heatley honour his contract with Ottawa if he doesn't get the deal he wants.

Good for him.
