SO THAT WORKED

Well if you are going to bust out of a 4 game winless streak we can't help but think that destroying the first place Chicago Blackhawks 9-2 is one way to do it. Particularly when this happens on a Saturday Night. When beer is for sale.

Taylor Hall hat trick? Nuge with 5 assists? We lack the words to accurately describe this. But we bet you may want to say a thing or two about a thing or two.

ALSO: THIS

Classic.

Plante is better and thats not saying much, this guy has no business in the NHL. Hitchcock's first move was to get rid of him WHY is he back in this organization?

And a great game by the Top 6.

Chorney was bad, however I feel Kevin Weekes was the low point of tonight.

Actually, I'm going to take credit for this one. The last four games I didn't wear my jersey, wore my jersey for this one.

Sorry boys, the 4 game skid was my fault but this win tonight is also on me :)

I was late and finally sat down at 3-1. We thought a 3-1 lead was a good win. Haha! Awesome!!

@D

Maybe it was quieter because of the pure domination (even though they were outshot).

Or was it lack of effort by Chicago?

I thought Ebs was first star. Hall was great. And nuge had the points but honestly thought nuge was not as impressive as the other two. Big games buy petry gilbert and peckham.

Gagner and hemsky look better together, and hopefully they get their stride going.

With three possible lines that can score this just opens up their defense and the kids have more room. the RNH eberle line i think will still have it a bit rougher on the road but than hopefully the horcoff and gagner line get some secondary scoring going.

EDIT: and the fourth line got some ice time and played allright.

Nice to beat up on the Hawks. Brings me back to the good ole days when the Oil regularly beat up on teams like the Hawks...remember Orville Tessier. It brought tears of joy to see the glum look of all those Hawk players including Carcillo, Toews, Kane. Duncan Keith looked like a pylon out there. We needed that one.

Interestingly, the building was very quiet tonight, compared to closer-score games. Maybe this explains why Edmonton had a reputation for being a quiet building in the 1980s?

what's really going to make you think is that Chorney played 4 more mins than Peckham... that's a pretty big indictment of Peckham... that or Renney looked up and saw the score and rolled all the lines... he did put MP on the PP for what i think was the first time

could be both...

@Overpaid Wild

c'mon you're splitting hairs, awesome hairs... if you set up 5 goals i don't think you can use the phrase "not as impressive" no matter the context.

gagner got lots of TOI (the most out of the forwards). looked like a conscious effort to attach him to a successful game... offensively I didn't see much from him, but his backchecking is looking better

Look at the TOI. forwards from most to least:

Gagner; Smyth; Hemsky; Horcoff; Belanger; Hall; lander; RNH; MP; Eberle; Jones; Eager

those numbers are skewed because Renney had a massive lead and didn't need to force the issue and he wanted to get things going for certain players (re Gags, Belanger, MP)

But... you can't diminish the role Horcoff plays on this team in good faith, especially on a night when he plays the 4th most mins and has 3 points!

It's just such a unjustified argument IMO that it makes you look like you've got an axe to grind with Horcoff more that anything else.

also... could we stop calling each other idiots? attack the argument fellas not the man. no need for beef.

You're forgetting that Peckham was kicked out of the game with about 9 minutes to go, meaning Chorney could make up ground quick.

damn that's right... foggy morning over here in Romuland...

Him and Carcillo had that lazy tilt... who was pecks protecting again? I want to say Hemsky for some reason... but then i remember the blur of Hall flying around all over the place... still worried we will discover some injury to hall after the adrenaline of the game wears off

Yes, Carcillo was doing his best impression of Derek Dorset on Hall, except this time someone on our team stepped up to protect our asset. Good on Pecks, even if he didn't do much in the fight. He needs Strudwick to give him a few lessens.
