On second thought, let's not talk about that.

So Scrivens?

Yeah. That was something else.

Now the real question is....is Scrivens playing like the world's best goalie right now because he wants a new shiny contract next season SOMEWHERE ELSE? Or would he be willing to stay here?

He keeps putting up those performances, he'll have other offers. And I can't imagine he'd decide to stay in a city where he's going to have to face that many shots a night because the team in front of him can't even spell defense, let alone play it

As a goalie, I love playing for weaker teams and having to face that many shots. Nights like this are the best. It's easy to stay focused and not get bored. And when you do have an off night, it's hard to beat up on yourself because you can just say, well my team sucked tonight.

MacT better be taking Scrivens aside on this road trip and get him signed to an extension... he earned it last night. I can't help but wonder what the score would have been if Dubnyk or LaBarbara were still with the team and in net instead? A win is a win, but please guys, could we cap opposing teams to 30 shots or less for the night?

PS. To the people focusing on the fact that the ice was tilted vertically in our own zone. We have lost at least 6 games we should have won this year, let us jut enjoy an unbelievable performance from a position of extreme disappointment this year.

Let's not get too carried away. MacT saved a compliance buy out on that one. That is all. Larsen should probably be on the second or third pair in OKC.

Your missing the point. i did not say we got any value back It was more addition by subtraction Larsen will not be resigned by the Oil.

Horcoff would kill about 951 of our scoring chances if he touched the puck so its still a win in my books.

Considering it was expected he would get nothing in return and still have to retain half of Horcoff's salary, I would say he did alright.

Now back to the point of the "article"....Nice work Scrivens!

You were one of the guys last year that demanded Horcoff had to go. Now you dont like the return we got? In your perfect world where you're the GM, what would you have gotten back? (now remember, it takes two teams to make a trade)

See what a real goalie coach can teach. I would have to think Billy Ranford knows a thing or two more about goaltending than Freddy Chabot. Scrivens doesn't flop all over the ice, he is square to the shooter unlike the previous goalie we had here. That folks is what a real goalie coach can teach. We need some D badly and not Brian Campbell.

The Sharks were just four shots shy of the all-time single-game regulation record since the NHL began tracking shots on goal.

As it stands, the Sharks made it to the 50-shot mark for the fifth time this season. No other team has done that more than once.

Ben Scrivens has now stopped 97 of 99 Sharks shots this season.

In a little over 18 minutes of five-on-five ice time, David Perron was on for 21 San Jose shots and 1 Edmonton shot. Perron has been one of the Oilers’ best players this season but that’s ineptitude taken to another level.

Don't just pick on Perron. That 2nd line were terrible last night. But they were gold 2 night ago against the Canucks.

I have watched a whole lot of hockey in my life and I have never seen a better display of goaltending. It was one of those performances for the ages that I will never forget. Glenn Hall stoning the Montreal Canadiens in the 1968 Final...Kelly Hrudey in that marathon ot vs. the Caps...Grant Fuhr shutting out the Islanders for the first win of the '84 Final and now this.

Tuff night for our young d-men,(not their fault) lots to learn as they were in way over their heads...lack of legitimate veteran #1 & 2 d-men was truly exposed tonight.

But on the other hand, San Jose has outshot their opponents in all games this year except for 11.

What makes this one so special is the quality of scoring chances San Jose had. There was breakaways, guys alone in the slot and multiple uncleared rebounds in the same sequence. This is the second best performance I've ever seen. For me, Hasek and Brodeur taking shutouts into quadruple OT in the 94 playoffs will always be number one. This is a close second. This beats Richter in the last World Cup, and Hasek in Nagano. This was special.

I cant believe he pulled that off. Every period I was sure that that something was going to bounce of a skate or something. And was it just me or were those posts EXTRA loud last night, that ringing is stuck in my ears. Lastly, at long last the oilers finally know what desperate hockey is all about!! They were getting owned for 60 minutes but totally sold out on effort to help out the goalie. Its not the playoffs but at least they now have the slightest bit of a clue the effort required to do great things.

I have to say that I was also very impressed with the Oilers' willingness to clear the crease after the whistle. Instead of seeing the Ladislav Smid Facewash™, I actually saw Belov and Petry knock a few Sharks on their asses. That's something I'm not used to seeing from this group.
