No changes to the goalie equipment this season? Except for pants, maybe

In case you all forgot about this, there was a huge commotion earlier in the year about the NHL allegedly cutting down goaltending equipment size AGAIN. Cory Hirsch almost caused the internet to implode after his segment on Sportsnet about reducing equipment size (see video below). Since then, the Pittsburgh Penguins won the Stanley Cup, the Oilers traded Taylor Hall (GET OVER IT!), Donald Trump accepted the Republican nomination, and the World Cup jerseys were released. 

I, personally, forgot all about the goalie equipment mumbo jumbo, and apparently so did the NHL.

What's Left for the Summer At Nation HQ

Summers are bitter sweet at Nation HQ. At the end of the regular season, Oilers fans are left disappointed, frustrated, and angry. Once the draft lottery comes around, excitement and hope creep into our minds, followed with peak hysteria at the draft. Free agent frenzy comes and goes and Oiler fans are left for three months to ponder what will be, come October. 

What often becomes a boring time in Oiler news between July and October can turn into an opportunity for us at Nation HQ to do some fun things with the citizens. With less than two months to the World Cup of Hockey, we've still got some exciting things happening to hopefully brighten up the slow months.

Have Your Say: 2016-17 Expectations

There are 70 days of waiting left until the Oilers kick off the season in their shiny new building. In a perfect world, Chiarelli will spend the remainder of the off season upgrading some bottom six forward depth, and more importantly, a top pairing defenceman.

Unfortunately, there aren't many worthwhile free agents left available, or even players available for trade, which makes it extremely difficult for Chia to get anything done before the season starts. With that said, I feel like it's an appropriate time to start talking about our expectations for the 2016-17 season.

The Many Talents of Connor McDavid

Connor McDavid is really good at hockey. I mean REALLY good. You may have heard that literally hundreds of times this past year. As you can guess, a generational talent at hockey is probably good at other things too. In fact, Connor's pretty good at a lot of things outside of hockey. The future Art Ross winner is probably better at most things that aren't hockey than the average person. Here are a few.
