There's a lockout... so now what?

September 15th has come and gone without a new CBA agreement being reached. The NHL and NHLPA are now playing a game of lockout chicken that could last a while. In the meantime the players must figure out what to do.

A Whole Lotta Rosie!

The Oilers could have used a whole lotta Rosie, that is Michael Rozsival. The thirty four year old defencemen finally signed, inking a deal with the Chicago Blackhawks. Reportedly the deal is for one year at two million dollars. Good deal for the Hawks and the Oilers lost out.

Once it was clear that I no longer had the fire I believe is required to play hockey anymore it was pretty easy to hang up the skates and call it a career. I am one of the fortunate players that was lucky enough to run out of gas before I ran out of opportunities.

Now diving...

Last week there was a NHL rule enforcement meeting. Some coaches, managers, players and referees were all thrown together to talk. I think it was a great idea that the players and referees got together. These are the two groups right in the action. They should know more or less what each other is thinking.

It was reported that diving was a popular topic to discuss at these meetings. Diving and how to curb it. Really? This is the biggest issue for NHL rule enforcement?
