When will the Oilers become Kings?

After watching the Los Angeles Kings win the Stanley Cup Monday night I had to take a good look at how they got there. It didn't happen over night. Was it good drafting, free agents or luck that got them to the top of the NHL? It turns out it was all the above!

With the draft rapidly approaching, managers league wide are huddling with their scouts trying to put together a draft list that will fill their teams up with talent for years to come. They look at each player and try to project what he will become in two, five or ten years’ time.

Fans and media alike are always wanting to know about "The Plan" for the Oilers. Does the team have a plan? What is The Plan? Why won't Steve Tambellini tell us The Plan? There is a strong feeling that it is a right of theirs to know the answers to these questions.

So the quest begins!!!

Now that it is clear the Oilers are in search of a new head coach everyone in Edmonton, including my grandmother, has an opinion on who should take over. This is a big decision for the team and will most likely take time.

Today the Oilers finally announced that Tom Renney would not be returning as coach next year. Although I don't agree with the amount of time it took to make the decision, the outcome is the same for both Renney and the organization as if it had been done a day after the last game. Tom is now searching for a new spot to coach and the Oilers are looking for a new coach.
