Yesterday Steve Tambellini was removed from his position as general manager of the Edmonton Oilers. He was replaced by Craig MacTavish. Former general manager of the Columbus Blue Jackets Scott Howson moves up in the lineup. Kevin Lowe, MacT and Howson have worked closely together before and now must get this team firmly on track.

Passion

You cannot play hockey without passion. No passion, no success. Very simple. Skill, size, loud home rink, perfect systems and awesome goaltending are valuable to any team but if the group of players on the team do not play with passion all those pieces will not fit together. Something will be missing.

Let’s face it, the Oilers playoff hopes are slim. Yes, I know it sucks. Oiler fans are frustrated with what is looking like another year of non-playoff action at Rexall. I don't need to get into all the percentages of the team making it. You all know those already.

Saturday night’s game between the Oilers and the St Louis Blues was a pretty good test of where Edmonton’s team is at. The Blues are a team starting to look more like the winning team I expected them to be before the season.

My coworker from the team 1260, Dustin Nielson is down in the Oilers dressing room after every Oilers game. He finds out how the guys are feeling right after the game. After the loss in the shootout to the San Jose Sharks on Wednesday I shot him the following text....
