Everything was going pretty well for Jeff Petry. After a slow start his defensive game was rounding into form and he had found the offensive part of his game. He was playing about twenty minutes most nights, a solid twenty minutes. He was getting back into the groove that made Oiler fans hope he was one of the answers on Edmonton's blueline.
Then this happened...

It is over! The longest road trip in Edmonton Oilers history. Crazy! To be honest, in this shortened season, a long road trip like that isn't fair for one team to have to go on. Spending that much time in a row on the road really puts strain on the players. Flying from city to city, moving from one hotel to the next sounds sexy but it isn't. Ask anyone who travels a lot for work. It is tiring.

Shawn Horcoff has been a lightning rod for fans frustrations for the last few years. With the big contract he received from the Oilers has come a lot of abuse. In my opinion, it’s unfair.

I have been working at Mt. Carmel school and helping out some youth hockey teams this year. I love the kids’ enthusiasm and work ethic. They always take a second to hear what I have to say and try to make the changes in their games.
If I am being honest, I don't have a lot to offer in the department of scoring goals. Try as I might, when I played it just never came together for me in that area! We all have skills, scoring wasn't mine.
Give me some FIRE!!!

As I watched the game the other night between the Oilers and Wild I kept getting more and more upset. It wasn't the odd turnover or even the zero shots in the second period that got to me. It was the lack of passion or FIRE in the team's play.
