ON THE ROAD: CONTIKI II: GOING INTO LAOS AND A RANT

After trekking about Thailand with our fellow Contiki travelers, it was time to leave the relative Land of Westernization behind and head into the truly wild.
If you had told us one day we would be taking a riverboat through Laos and then strutting about in Cambodia we would have punched you straight in your face.
Because that is how we were raised to deal with liars. Swiftly and decisively.

Contiki is one of these touring companies that drags lazy back packers around showing you things you wouldn’t see if you are traveling on your own. Cause if you are a lazy backpacker traveling on your own odds are you are simply going to see the inside of your hotel room, the cheapest restaurant within a 5 minute walk and then the bars.
The wonderful, wonderful bars.

Next on our itinerary was Koh Phi Phi - another little island off the coast of Thailand that is renowned for its beaches, many restaurants and exotic nightlife. After having survived Koh Samui we felt we would be more than prepared to take on it’s twin brother a short trip away.

When we first read on the Twitterz that Tim Thomas was skipping out on the traditional "Stanley Cup winners meet the President trip to the White House" we rolled our eyes and wondered what was going through the old boy's head. Now we aren't so sure what to think.
