It's at this point in the NHL season that Oilers fans make a decision about how we are going to pass the time for the remaining 6 weeks of the season. Early excitement and God given right to unreasonable optimism has created a black diamond rated slide into misery and if it hasn't arrived already it is certainly on the horizon as seen in the scientific graph above.

Rest assured a game against the Minnesota Wild will be anything but a wild affair. The team plays a defensive style so boring the Pentagon is looking to develop a way to weaponize it and bring it into battle. "Project: Lethal Boredom" is expected to be a fully functional option in the aresenal of freedom within a decade.

A 5-1 over Dallas in Dallas last night? Jeff Petry scoring in two straight games? The rookie party must have been one hell of a morale raiser for the Mighty Oil because that was as complete of a game as we have seen in awhile from the Copper and Blue and Orange and Blue.
Time to party if you ask me.

Tickets are selling at a pace that can be described as "mildly brisk" for the OilersNation 5th birthday party at the Pint off Whyte this Friday. We like to think that it is because each $20 ticket gets you a free 5th birthday tee shirt pictured above.
Gregor thinks its because all the proceeds go to the Inner City Children's Fund. A buddy of mine texted to say "A UFC ring girl is in the house? That sounds like a recipe for disaster. This I gotta see."

The Oilers play the Coyotes today in your classic garden variety matinee. This is great news for the Oilers who are a mind shattering 0-2346 in franchise history in afternoon matches.
