Edmonton Oilers president of hockey operations Kevin Lowe had a chance Thursday to throw a big bucket of cold water on suggestions his team might make a "wow" move once the NHL lockout is over. Instead, he brought a gas can.

Everybody paying attention knows I keep score and, because of that quirk, they know I hold Bob Stauffer in high regard when it comes to his ability to telegraph what's going to happen with the Edmonton Oilers.

I haven't seen enough of Colten Teubert to know exactly where he's slotted on the Edmonton Oilers organizational depth chart, but I most certainly do know I like the kick-some-ass-ask-questions-later instincts he's been showing down on the farm with the Oklahoma City Barons.

While I admire those churning out KHL reports, AHL updates and even season point projections (without any of us having the first clue if we'll have an NHL season or how many games it'll be), I don't see a single issue I can hang a whole item on, so I won't even try.

Edmonton Oilers forward Ben Eager, who some critics might suggest barely laid a hand on anybody during the 2011-12 season out on the ice, is facing assault charges in the wake of an altercation in a bar early Saturday morning.
