Craig MacTavish has the title of vice-president of hockey operations in his third go-round with the Edmonton Oilers. I don't think it'll be more than a season or two until he's general manager, and I'm betting he'll be good at it.

When July began I complimented Edmonton Oilers GM Steve Tambellini for doing some nice work, mostly of the housekeeping variety, this off-season but suggested there was more to do. As August approaches, we're still waiting on that.

Fake names or not, fans who post on sites like this are real people with real lives. While that can get lost sometimes amid the goofy handles, that simple fact came back into focus for me today reading Tinfoil Tuque's item about his daughter and his participation in Road Hockey to Conquer Cancer.

Theo Peckham had a good laugh on Jason Gregor's Show on TEAM 1260 today, and it wasn't about his listed weight of 235 pounds in the Edmonton Oilers media guide, although the guffaws were most certainly related to it.
