Hockey fans north of the 49th parallel might say they're mad as hell and they aren't going to take it from Gary Bettman and Donald Fehr any more – that they won’t return even when NHL hockey eventually does -- but TEAM 1260 talk show host Jason Strudwick isn't buying it.

There's been plenty of discussion about when, exactly, the Edmonton Oilers realized they'd best forget about patching up the remnants of the team that went to the 2006 Stanley Cup final and undertake a bare-metal rebuild.

At this point in the NHL lockout, it's ridiculous to contemplate an end to the work stoppage in terms of winners and losers because there's been so much damage done to both sides, the owners and the membership of the NHLPA – not to mention the fan base – already.

Equipment man Barrie Stafford spent a lot of time with future Hall of Famers Wayne Gretzky, Mark Messier, Grant Fuhr, Paul Coffey, Glenn Anderson and Jari Kurri early in his career with the Edmonton Oilers. Today, Stafford took his place alongside the Boys on the Bus again.

As contrasts go, they don't get any more jarring than the one that exists today between the Edmonton Oilers and Edmonton Eskimos, whose CFL season just came to an abrupt end in a 42-26 ass-kicking against the Toronto Argos.
