For weary Edmonton Oiler fans, the CHL post-season has arrived just in time. An extremely large number of Oiler prospects will be playing in the post-season in hopes of winning league championships and ultimately the Memorial Cup.

Sean Couturier has proven to be a poor front runner. The "reverse Secretariat" started at the front of the pack (with Adam Larsson) and appeared to be holding his own through the World Junior roster cuts. Since then, he's been passed like a house on the side of the road.

We're at the point in the draft cycle where hockey men use hyperbole to describe the future. Ken Hitchcock has Ryan Nugent-Hopkins as a cross between a young Joe Sakic and a young Pavel Datsyk; Sean Couturier`s last name should be 'Staal' according to the comparables; and Adam Larsson is better than Lidstrom at this age. Apparently.

This is Tim Raines. Powder blues, doubles to the gap, lightning on the base paths. First to third in a heartbeat, sb followed by runs scored all day long. Tim Raines was a glorious leadoff hitter, but the Expos placed him in the heart of the order. Didn't matter. He killed that too.
