I don't think there are many who believe the current state of affairs in regard to Jesse Puljujarvi makes a lot of sense. The Oilers are keeping him in Edmonton and not playing him much (24 of 36 games, 11:39 ATOI per game). Up until today, most felt (and management suggested) a trip to the AHL might be the next step. This morning, a new wrinkle appeared and could factor into things.

THE WORLD JUNIORS AND THE OILERS FAN

For fans of the Edmonton Oilers, this edition of the World Juniors is going to be unusual. For many years now, the WJs boasted either fabulous Oilers draft picks (Jordan Eberle, etc) or featured teenagers who would soon be Oilers (Taylor Hall, Connor McDavid, Jesse Puljujarvi). This time, the Oilers have just two kids at the tournament, and are unlikely to be in the lottery. What can you look forward to? Lots!

This is Jere Sallinen. Signed during the offseason with a resume that included KHL and Sm-Liiga time, he was part of the mix in training camp. We haven't thought about him for some time, but he remains in the organization trying to find his way up the depth chart.
