Slava Trukhno (whose first name is variously spelled Viacheslav, Vyacheslav or Viatcheslav) was a fourth round pick of the Oilers in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. Trukhno had come over to North America for the 2004-05 season, finishing second in scoring on the QMJHL’s PEI Rocket with a modest 59 points.

By now, we’ve likely all heard about the suspension to Canadiens forward Tomas Plekanec for slewfooting Denis Grebeshkov on Wednesday night. As Jason Gregor reported yesterday, Grebeshkov is going to be out for a minimum of two weeks, and likely longer with a high ankle sprain. Plekanec will be ineligible to play for two games, in accordance with the Colin Campbell Wheel of Justice.

According to a report published by the Edmonton Journal’s David Staples, the Edmonton Oilers are close to signing KHL forward Jaromir Jagr. This information, from an anonymous source, was passed on to Staples by Peter Adler, a hockey journalist with close ties to Russia. The anonymous source declined to offer any information as to the specifics of the contract or when it might be finalized.
