The trade deadline is 24 days away, and so far Ales Hemsky hasn't heard anything from the Oilers regarding his future with or without the team. How is this possible? Does Steve Tambellini believe that top-six forwards grow on trees, and that it will be easy to replace Hemsky? I hope not, because it is very hard to find proven point producers.
People have been speculating for months about Hemsky. Does he want to be here? Is he happy?
I'm a fan of Hemsky's abilities as a player. I've always liked his fearlessness, his ability to beat defenders one-on-one, and his elite level skill. I've always felt he could be even better, if he spent a bit more time after practice working on things, but in my eyes is a bonafide top-six forward, and for years he was the Oilers best player
You'd think they would at least approach him and gauge where is head is at regarding his future with the team.

If you missed tonight's game you'll be kicking yourself for a long time. For all the struggles, losses, bad signings, injuries and long nights Oiler fans have had to endure for the past six years, a night like tonight makes it pretty damn exciting to be an Oiler fan, I would think.
EIGHT FREAKING POINTS.
If you weren't old enough to watch the Oilers in the 1980s, tonight gave you a sense of what it felt like numerous times every season. The game was freewheeling, end-to-end action and damn exciting. The building was electric and every Oiler player was happy to be a part of history.

Wayne Gretzky, Paul Coffey and Sam Gagner.

The Oilers are 22 points behind the Hawks in the standings, but for reasons unexplained, maybe it's the Hawks ice girls, the Oilers have matched up very well against Kane, Toews, Keith, Hossa and their teammates. Yesterday Kane said the Hawks still remember the 9-2 ass-kicking they took from the Oilers at Rexall on November 19th and they'll be ready tonight.
The Oilers will be as well, and fans should witness a fast-paced, energetic game tonight.

The Edmonton Oilers can stockpile all the talent they want up front and load up on proven defensemen, but if they don't have a goaltender they can count on, the rebuild they're selling fans isn't going anywhere. Is Devan Dubnyk the man for the job?
