Cameron Abney, a third round pick (82nd overall) of the Edmonton Oilers in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, played his first professional season in 2011-12. He played 14 games in the AHL, going scoreless, and 29 games in the ECHL, picking up five points. He did pick up 156 penalty minutes.
For most prospects with the hope of an NHL job, those would be ridiculously bad numbers. Yet, in Abney’s case, they’re entirely unsurprising, and don’t indicate a failing prospect.

Holy cow. Was that an Edmonton Ice Hockey squadron raising a championship trophy on Rexall Place Ice in a year that begins with 2?

Patrick Kane is a pretty good hockey player. Very few people deny this.
Kane does have a penchant for getting into trouble – he got arrested in Buffalo after an incident with a cab driver, and the last week has featured a lot of fun pictures from a drunken weekend in Madison, Wisconsin.
What do the Blackhawks do about this combination?

I'm not sure I agree with that, but I'm guessing many scouts and GMs have felt like that years after a draft. "Why didn't I take that guy instead," would be a common thought, but you don't want to think that when you have the 1st overall pick. Not every first overall pick is going to be the best in his draft class, but recently many of the first choices were the best ones.
The Oilers need to ensure that in 2017, they were happy with their first round pick in 2012.

Will the Edmonton Oilers select dynamic Sarnia Sting forward Nail Yakupov with the first pick in at the NHL Entry Draft in June or will they lean toward addressing organizational need by opting for Everett Silvertips defenseman Ryan Murray, ranked No. 2 by Central Scouting?
