It's better that the Edmonton Oilers got it right late than never getting it right at all when it comes to putting Rob Daum back behind the bench where he belongs instead of schlepping around as a pro scout.

According to a report published by the Edmonton Journal’s David Staples, the Edmonton Oilers are close to signing KHL forward Jaromir Jagr. This information, from an anonymous source, was passed on to Staples by Peter Adler, a hockey journalist with close ties to Russia. The anonymous source declined to offer any information as to the specifics of the contract or when it might be finalized.

We almost died laughing when we ran into an office here at NationHQ and told everyone in a really excited voice "Kevin Lowe just fired a Head Coach under his direction" and watched their eyes light up with glee and later dislodge from their sockets when they read that it was Jeff Truitt not MacT. That's gold.

Some of you may have read my article yesterday, which made the case for a coaching change in Springfield. Today, the Oilers have announced that Jeff Truitt has been relieved of his duties and that he will be replaced by professional scout Rob Daum for the remainder of the season.

Tim Sestito is not a real prospect. He’s an offensive black hole (in his finest junior season he managed 32 points), has grit but not size and went undrafted. Still, he’s a player that the Oilers have doggedly kept on their radar screen.
