After three big road games, the Oilers rookies are moving up the scoring race. Although leading the league in total rookie points is not a guarantee of winning the ROY, it certainly helps. Being famous and scoring ridiculous goals that make Sportsentre's Plays of the Day/Week/Month also help. The Oilers have two strong candidates.

Three straight wins with three different goalie and five wins in their last seven games and all of a sudden the Oilers look a competent NHL team. Sam Gagner has a point in four straight games, Taylor Hall is suddenly tied with Gagner and Dustin Penner for the team lead in goals with eight, Ryan Whitney leads all NHL D-men in assists with 20 and even Jim Vandermeer is playing well.
The question that needs to be asked; Is this team for real or was it just a short blimp on the ELPH screen?

So let's get this straight. The Boston Bruins are considering sending Tyler Seguin to the World Juniors in an attempt to get him more playing time and further his development.
The Oilers on the other hand are refusing to send Magnus Paajarvi Svensson to the same tournament, to rack up minutes against players his own age and restore his confidence because .... why exactly?

The Oilers will attempt to win their third straight game with three different goalies, when Tom Renney hands the reins to Nikolai Khabibulin tonight in Toronto. Why not go with the most unorthodox strategy in winning three straight; Using three different goalies. It is an awesome plan and according to Elias Sports Bureau it will the first time the Oilers win three straight games with three different goalies.

It would be a clumsy choice of words to say emphatically, "The Edmonton Oilers aren't going anywhere," but isn't that the obvious bottom line when it comes to the non-story hatched by QMI Agency Wednesday?
