Everybody who was a fan of the Edmonton Oilers in the 1990’s remembers Curtis Joseph. Despite playing for the copper and blue for less than three seasons, Joseph had a lasting impression, helping the Oilers to two first round upsets as he backstopped the little team that could.

In March of 1998, the Oilers faced a difficult choice. Joseph was an impending unrestricted free agent, and they couldn’t afford to keep him. However, the Oilers were also on the playoff bubble: keeping or trading Joseph could mean the difference between playoffs and no playoffs. They opted to keep him – was it the right choice?

Oklahoma’s power play had been suffering through a bit of a dry spell, going 1-for-17 over the team’s first four games. No longer. The man advantage exploded for four goals on Tuesday night, and by virtue of assists on three of those defenceman Justin Schultz has moved into a tie for the AHL scoring lead.

Would Roberto Luongo play for the Oilers? Would the Oilers trade for him? Would you want him between the pipes whenver this ridiculous lockout ends?

Canucks beat reporter Jason Botchford tweeted a few days ago that the Oilers are one of three or four teams in the mix. Before you jump off the deep end and suggest this is bunk, keep in mind Botchford was the guy who had Shane Doan down to two teams, Vancouver and Phoenix, and after Doan signed in Phoenix he admitted that the Canucks were #2 on his list.

The question is should the Oilers trade for him?
