The second Jarret Stoll's snapshot whistled over Cory Schneider's shoulder ending the Canucks season, many Oiler fans were instantly tweeting, faceboooking and blogging how great it felt to see the Canucks out. Vancouver is a main rival, and arguably the most hated one, but Oiler fans should also realize that even when this never-ending rebuild of the Oilers is complete, there is no guarantee they will have playoff success.

Edmonton Oilers badly need good defenseman and help is on the way. Oscar Klefbom is rumored to be close to an NHL entry level deal, ensuring the club's best long term prospect will be an Oiler. The question is when?

I first came across the term “Coke Machine” reading Lowetide’s blog roughly five years ago. Lowetide was talking about the big forwards that often made up the heart of the Oilers’ drafts under Kevin Prendergast.
For the most part, those picks didn’t work out for Edmonton. Sometimes, though, they do.

Aside from the St. Louis Blues who are now home and dry, pretty much all of the favorites heading into the playoffs are on the ropes. It's been a wacky post-season for fans of playoff teams. Luckily the Flames, Leafs and Oilers faithful don't have to deal with such stress - all that's left for them is to sit back, await the draft and continue to pray for a Canucks first round upset (sorry Canucks fans).
