Last spring we had a lot of questions and the summer, fall and winter delivered answers. The Nuge WAS golden, Smyth's return was wonderful and the team improved but ended up in the same old neighbourhood. What are the questions this summer? More importantly, what are the answers?

There’s an interesting thing that happens whenever someone looks at Steve Tambellini’s literal words, writes them down, and attempts to deduce the meaning of them. Someone else will come along, agree that’s what he said, and then argue ‘of course he said that – what else is he going to say?’

The Edmonton Oilers have some tough decisions to make this summer. Example: their 8 wingmen. Add up the NHL contracts, the solid prospects knocking on the door and the #1 overall pick and something's gotta give.

It occured to me recently, after watching Brian Burke bloviate, Jay Feaster deflect and Steve Tambellini ramble during their respective year-end press conferences, that the true issue facing mediocre (or worse) teams is not whether an executive has all the answers - it's if he has the wherewithal to ask the right questions.
