The Oilers didn’t surprise many when they announced Taylor Hall as the first pick in the 2010 entry draft. Hall was regarded as the best player, and in the end the Oilers went with the two-time Memorial Cup MVP.

LOS ANGELES -- For 1970s game show host Monty Hall, it came easily. Not so much for Edmonton Oilers GM Steve Tambellini, who tried mightily to make a deal to get another pick in the first round Friday, but ended up with the crate of lemons behind door No. 3.

For two months Oiler fans have argued in favour of Taylor or Tyler, and in less than two hours we will finally know who the Oilers will pick first overall. The Oilers know who they are taking, but they’ve done a pretty good job of keeping it quiet.

LOS ANGELES -- It's going to be a busy and historic day for OilersNation and fans of the Edmonton Oilers, and my guess is the action is going to start long before NHL commissioner Gary Bettman steps to the podium to get things going at 4 p.m. Pacific Time (5 p.m. in Oil Country).
