We're coming up on 40 NHL drafts for the Edmonton Oilers and it's clear now they used all of their voodoo in the first three editions to grab their franchise goalies. I'd ask the Oilers what process they use to identify goalies to draft, but I'm afraid they'd tell me.

A couple days ago, Jim Matheson wrote a story over at the Journal about Ryan Smyth looking to get back into hockey in some capacity. He goes on to mention, in the article, that Smytty's first choice for employment would obviously be with the Oilers. To me this seems like a logical fit, but what I think doesn't matter. I want to know what you think.

If you're looking for Oilers news you won't find that here. There will be very few Connor McDavid updates, and there will be no arguing about what the Oilers should be doing with the captaincy. This is a charity update on a few things that we've worked on over the past little while.

Todd McLellan is going to have a lot of options this fall when it comes to filling out his lineup. Most of us are focused (with good reason) on the scoring lines as the mind soars with the possibilities. One thing we should be prepared for? As was the case in the 1980's, forward pairs may be the order of the day.
