Most of our efforts at the moment are concerned with the business of the Nation as opposed to writing or tweeting much of anything. It’s the big run up to the start of the season and your ol pal Wanye needs to be on his game or the Nations could be screwed quicker than the Flames will fall out of the Western Conference Playoff Picture.*

Today a hilarious story of how we know we have picked the right sales person. Nothing really is happening in actual news anyways so it’s not like we are taking up valuable space on the front page of the site.

Bringing in some new boys

I love the movie Slap Shot. I don't think a better hockey movie has been or will be made ever again. There are many great scenes but one of my favorites is when the manager Joe McGrath comes into the room looking for the Hanson brothers and asks, "Where are the new boys?"

Classic! As my career got towards the end I loved saying that when young guys would get called up, especially when it was their first NHL game. They were nervous as hell and here was this veteran cracking jokes from Slap Shot! They didn't know what to do.

In late April, Craig MacTavish held a press conference and laid out the plan for spring and summer. Role players, blueliners and powerforwards were on the agenda and there was a sense that things would get done under the new regime. The word 'bold' was mentioned a time or two. Did MacT do what he said he'd do?

What to do with Oscar?

It is hard to find a person to who doesn't think that that Oscar Klefbom is a very good prospect to play in the NHL. Most seem to think he is the best prospect the Oilers have in their system currently not playing in the NHL. There is no doubt the Oilers have a need for top end defenceman but how soon should they find out if Oscar is the guy to do that?
