My wife told me she plans to get a clown to show up at my son Sam's 4th birthday party next weekend and I immediately envisioned a player from the Calgary Flames showing up at my house in that hideous throwback jersey they just unveiled for the Heritage Classic.

In the last couple of weeks I've talked about some possible callups from the Barons, specifically Chris Vande Velde and Theo Peckham. Although the Barons will have some other good young options for callup, the most interesting player in the group is probably Jeff Petry.

It’s a relatively slow time of year for the NHL, with a few free agents still looking for jobs and players still months away from any game action. It seems as good a time as any to take a look at the roster Steve Tambellini is assembling.
