Now we are far more mature and the return of the NHL season means it is time for us at Nation HQ to get to steppin! More articles, more writers more games! More everything! Try things! Hurry!

WILL THE OILERS MAKE THE PLAYOFFS?

On the eve of another lockout-shortened season, there are many questions surrounding the Edmonton Oilers. How good will Justin Schultz be in the NHL? Is Devan Dubnyk ready to be an everyday starting goalie? Can Ales Hemsky and Ryan Whitney have bounce back seasons? Who will lead the Oilers in scoring: Jordan Eberle, Taylor Hall or Ryan Nugent-Hopkins? How much of an impact will new head coach Ralph Krueger have?

All great questions, but the most important one is, will the Oilers make the playoffs for the first time in seven seasons?

Blackhawks owner: “I don't think the owners or the players should have to apologize” for the NHL lockout

In a fascinating interview with the Chicago Sun-Times, Blackhawks owner Rocky Wirtz said something truly remarkable: that neither the owners nor the players should need to apologize for the NHL lockout.

It’s a ballsy comment, and particularly interesting because Wirtz backed it up with a legitimate argument.

NATION PROFILE: DAVE HUNTER

He arrived in the NHL as a part of what might be the single best group of freshman on one team in the league's history, and he delivered on the promise that made him the final first round pick by the Montreal Canadiens GM Sam Pollock. Dave Hunter was an outstanding shadow.

2013 GOAT AND STAR SELECTIONING

Have we really been picking Goats and Stars on the Nation for 4 years now? Oh how time passes on the bottom of the NHL ocean floor. Not a lot of light gets down here, every day sorta looks the alike after awhile. But they say that every dog gets his day and 2013 will surely be the year that the Mighty Oil rise up from the depths of the ocean floor and stake their victorious claim of some point between the deep and the light topside.

We aren't asking for all that much Gods of Hockey. Just a return to respectability. Respectability on the way to Dominance. Dominance on the way to showing No Mercy.

Ahem.

As we watch the Oil begin their ascent we will be sure to point out the people steering the sub.
