Transitional players are supposed to provide young, rebuilding teams like the Edmonton Oilers with meaningful minutes on the ice and leadership in the dressing room. They're supposed to be a bridge to the future. Right now, that bridge is burning.

Fresh off a four game losing streak where they allowed 25 goals, the Oilers might get be putting out an SOS to Oklahoma City and recalling a defenceman. Exciting Last Place hockey continues this morning with the Oilers wrapping up a five-game road trip with a stop at MSG to take on the Rangers. One thing you can be sure of is that Derek Boogaard and Steve MacIntyre will drop the gloves today.
