I'm not sure if this is a sign of age, I'm going crazy or it's a reflection of current turmoil, but my love for the 2006 Stanley team continues unabated 88 months later.

Near the end of tonight's 4-0 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs at Rexall Place, somebody Tweeted a picture of Edmonton Oilers' coach Dallas Eakins staring off into space, looking stunned, distant, dazed.
Likewise, I'm sure, were many of the fans who filed out of the rink after yet another loss, although I'm guessing just as many headed to the parking lot flat-out pissed off after seeing more of the same old, same old.

Sam Gagner returns to the lineup after missing the first 13 games of the season with a broken jaw. He should give the Oilers special teams a boost.
Gagner was tied for the team lead in PP points last year with 15. He can move the puck quickly and accurately. He also was on the PK last year, and he should help a floudering PK unit, by having the experience to be in the right lane on the PK.

This past week Jaromir Jagr continued to climb the rankings amongst the all-time great players and point-producers in the history of the NHL.
Jagr is off to a solid start in New Jersey with 2-7-9 in 11 games, and last Tuesday night he became the 32nd player in NHL history to play 1,400 games.

The Oilers might be about to get some welcome – and oh so rare – good news on the injury front. According to TSN’s Bob McKenzie, Gagner is “getting much closer to a return” and McKenzie hints that the Oilers’ centre could be back basically any day now.
