Oiler fans know that the 2010 draft looks like a watershed. Taylor Hall is already scoring goals in the best league on the planet, and that second round may live in infamy. Still deeper there are scorers and puck movers and goalies and they all seemingly have a lot of promise. Is this a mirage? When do troubles begin to appear for a draft class?

GDB 26.0: HEMSKY SINGING THE BLUES

Two weeks ago the Blues were sitting in 4th spot in the Western Conference, eleven points ahead of the Edmonton Oilers. Fast forward to today, and the Blues have hit the skids, losers of four in a row, while the Oilers have won five of seven and with a regulation win tonight they would suddenly trail the Blues by three points. Injuries to TJ Oshie and David Perron have hurt the Blues, and while Ales Hemsky will sit out his third game with a sore groin, the Oilers have won two straight without their assistant captain.

Regina Sends its Best. Again!

This is Brandon Davidson. He was the 6th WHL player chosen in the past three years by the Oilers, and the second from the Regina Pats. Although not gifted with the resume of Jordan Eberle, this young man is showing he was certainly worth a pick long before he was taken (the 6th round). Where did he come from? How good is he?

Calder Race Heating Up

After three big road games, the Oilers rookies are moving up the scoring race. Although leading the league in total rookie points is not a guarantee of winning the ROY, it certainly helps. Being famous and scoring ridiculous goals that make Sportsentre's Plays of the Day/Week/Month also help. The Oilers have two strong candidates.

THE END OF ELPH???

Three straight wins with three different goalie and five wins in their last seven games and all of a sudden the Oilers look a competent NHL team. Sam Gagner has a point in four straight games, Taylor Hall is suddenly tied with Gagner and Dustin Penner for the team lead in goals with eight, Ryan Whitney leads all NHL D-men in assists with 20 and even Jim Vandermeer is playing well.

The question that needs to be asked; Is this team for real or was it just a short blimp on the ELPH screen?
