Lowetide also adds his own thoughts to the mix on where the Oilers may be headed and we make a short stop in Winnipeg to see how the fans are enjoying the suddenly red hot Jets.

Fresh off a gutsy 4-3 win in Chicago, you'd think the Oilers would have had a fun flight to Buffalo, but injuries to Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Tom Gilbert most likely dampened the energy on the flight. Nugent-Hopkins lost his balance and fell awkwardly into the boards injuring his left shoulder, while Gilbert was rocked into the end boards on a dangerous/dumb hit by Daniel Carcillo.

I like players who play the game hard and tough, but Carcillo's hit was uncalled for, and he'll likely be suspended by Brendan Shanahan. The suspension won't help the Oilers, with Gilbert out for an undetermined amount of time, and they'll be in tough tonight against the underachieving Sabres.

The Oilers recalled Teemu Hartikainen today and sent Lennart Petrell to OKC. Unless Hartikainen is going to play in the top-three lines I don't see him making much of an impact. Realistically what more should we have expected from Petrell. He was 3rd on the team in hits, 49, and he was a solid shot-blocker, especially on the PK. Some will say he was getting killed 5x5, but didn't people say the same about Ryan Jones last year? That stat has some merit, but it clearly doesn't always equate the truth.

If Hartikainen slots in on the 4th line, it will be very difficult for him to make an impact and be a difference maker, although tonight might be a good night to start him on the 4th line.

Life is not fair. Moms and Dads want all of their kids to succeed, but the cold hard facts are that some are Michael, some are Sonny and some are Fredo. It looks like the Oilers have two Michael's, but what will become of Magnus?
