In the 1980s the Islanders and Oilers were the gold standard for the NHL. They were winning Stanley Cups and their buildings were not outdated. Nassau Coliseum was built in 1972 and Rexall Place in 1974. Since both teams last won Stanley Cups neither has had much success. For a while now both organizations have been in a struggle to get new arenas to play in.

Yesterday, Bob Stauffer announced on Oilers Now that he expects the Edmonton Oilers to make a “wow factor move” in player personnel once the lockout ended (he further predicts the lockout will be over by early December). In other words, according to Stauffer, a big trade is brewing.

There was an insane amount of KHL hockey today. Like I've been editing for hours and hours. If anyone says there's "no hockey" I'm going to have to punch them with my exhausted and carpal tunnel syndrome-stricken hands.

The Oklahoma City Barons beat Texas 4-2 on Sunday. They did it without Alex Plante, who for the third time in seven games sat in the press box and watched. For a Plante, a first round draft pick, third year professional, and a guy with NHL games under his belt each year he’s been a pro, this is not a welcome development.

Another weekend without the NHL and many of you have continued to go on living. Crazy, I know, but it seems the NHL is more interested/concerned about the Winter Classic than actually negotiating you should get used to no-NHL weekends.
There is however lots of hockey related and other sports topics to discuss.
