There were a couple of interesting items for Oilers fans during the second intermission of CBC’s broadcast of game five between the Chicago Blackhawks and Los Angeles Kings. First, Glenn Healy reported that Rick Bowness – a candidate to work as an associate coach to Ralph Krueger – declined a job offer, while Elliotte Friedman provided some information on a possible Shawn Horcoff trade.

Craig MacTavish is riding such a wave of popularity right now, the new GM of the Edmonton Oilers could probably declare himself a candidate for mayor and do well at the polls. So far, so good.

Watching Twitter melt on this sunny Saturday afternoon in anticipation of a 4 PM press conference where the Oilers are expected to announce Ralph Krueger will be relieved of his duties we can't help but remember that a certain Jason "JG" Gregor wrote a long article over a year ago that Dallas Eakins would be a good choice as Head Coach of the squad and had an interview with the man himself.
That interview is reposted here whilst we all get excited and tweet speculation.

There is little doubt that Oilers prospect Anton Lander will compete for NHL work next season. He’s coming off a great playoff run – he scored five times and picked up eight points in eight games for the Barons – and with the rumours of departures for Shawn Horcoff and Eric Belanger he’s one of the few depth centres in the organization who can be reasonably confident about even being in Edmonton’s system for training camp.
However, both the team and player will likely be better off if Lander starts the year in the AHL.
