The Edmonton Oilers may not add to their current group of forwards for the coming season based on GM Craig MacTavish's words in his latest interview. If true, the bottom 6F look slightly better in some areas and the same or worse in others. How will coach Dallas Eakins get around it? Increased minutes for his top 6F, reliance on the wisdom of the pro scouting department, a winger from his AHL team and perhaps a Baron or two when things get tight.

I can't confirm if Ryan Jones celebrated like this when he signed a one-year deal with the Oilers last week, but the 29-year-old was excited he's returning to Edmonton. Jones, like most of his teammates, has something to prove to his new coach and GM, and he is looking forward to the challenge.

Who are the Oilers’ best prospects, and what positions do they play? The following is intended to give a general outline of where the team can expect to get internal help, and what positions need to be shored up.

This year the Party Planning Department at OilersNation (me) and the geniuses at Pint Downtown (hot chicks for the most part) elected not to have our 4th annual NHL entry draft party. The Oilers mercifully didn't finish last, meaning they didn't pick first. Plus the NHL moved it from Friday (fun times) to Sunday at noon (dead times.)
But never fear - we are going to throw one hell of a Draft Party this Friday at the Pint Downtown. Draft party as in the official release of NationBeer.
You read that right. What was once merely a blog is now also a beer.

The Edmonton Oilers aren't done with roster moves, they have a few holes to fill before September 15th when Craig MacTavish hands off to Dallas Eakins for the fall and winter. A summer full off addition and subtraction leaves the roster with 2 goaltenders, 8 defensemen, 12 forwards and an unsigned Gagner. The roster holes are pronounced and significant, and if we're talking playoffs in 2013-14 they must be addressed.
