Is there a veteran NHL free agent the Oilers should pursue in net?

Aside from Devan Dubnyk, there is a lot of uncertainty at the goaltending position in Edmonton. With the number two and three slots in the organization both currently held by unrestricted free agents who aren’t expected to return, it’s no surprise general manager Craig MacTavish is saying things like “It’s an area of poor depth for our organization” and “We have to shore up our goaltending for sure.”

Is there a veteran NHL free agent who might fit the bill?

The day Edmonton drafted Mitchell Moroz, the Oilers were absolutely addressing need. Moroz--a big, tough winger who can skate and arrive in ill humor consistently--instantly moved to the top of the list of 'junior forwards other teams don't want to play against' in the organization. One year later, Moroz appears to be on the verge of a long awaited move up the depth chart to a skill line and offensive opportunity.

Why Columbus is a great trading partner for Edmonton

There probably isn’t a team in the NHL that is a more logical trading partner for the Edmonton Oilers than the Columbus Blue Jackets. Lots of draft picks? Check. Good players on iffy contracts that could be dealt? Check. Strength on defence? Check. Executives with knowledge of the team? Check. All the ingredients are in place.

The Edmonton Oilers actual draft list is unavailable to us, but the organization does give us 'clues' leading up to each season's entry draft. If you're really interested in knowing the players Edmonton may select this summer, a little digging could go a long way.
