Eleven has been my favourite number since I can remember. I had short affairs with some higher ups like 17, 19 and 23, but 11 has always been the number that made me feel the most confident. It is strange how a lucky number can impact our psyche or our minds, yet today on the 11th anniversary of my father’s passing I have an eerie mixture of confidence and yearning.
Eleven years ago today, my father, William Arthur Gregor, passed away at the young age of 56. Dad had a massive heart attack in his car at a red light in Sherwood Park. He had quit smoking a few years earlier, wasn’t a heavy drinker or overweight, but sadly it was his time.

Spend a few minutes talking to Ryan Nugent-Hopkins outside the bustle of the daily scrums that have become his routine, and it's difficult not to come away as impressed with him off the ice as on it.

This is the original "Nuge", Ted Nugent. The Nuge was a fantastic guitar player, so good in fact, he has a Gibson model named after him. He has played over 6000 concerts, released 34 albums and sold over 30 million records. Cat Scratch Fever is my favourite Nuge song. The intro is epic. Nugent's fingers were silky smooth on the guitar, while the Oilers' "Nuge" has shown that his hands are pretty silky sick as well.

Ales Hemsky will suit up for his first action of the preseason tonight, and yesterday he thought he might have to be the shooter on his line. Hemsky said he was going to skate with the Ryans, Smyth and Nugent-Hopkins and was prepared to add a new wrinkle to his game.
"I think i'm the shooter on the line right now. Smitty doesn't shoot too much (laughs) so we'll see tomorrow. I've got a new stick so I'm planning on firing more."
