No one does better Stanley Cup montages than CBC. The energy inside the arena during a playoff game is one of the best sporting experiences a fan/media can have. It is electric, and CBC's opening montage illustrated it perfectly. I defy you to watch that and not yearn to be at a game. The seven-year drought gets older by the second, especially when you watch that video and are reminded how awesome the energy, atmosphere and pass of playoff games are.

If the Oilers are ever going to return to the wonderland known as playoffs, they will need to upgrade their blueline. That must be priority number one for Craig MacTavish this summer.

You don’t have to look very far in any aspect of life to understand old sayings like "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" or "one man's junk is another man's treasure" ring true. People paying for tickets to cheer for the Edmonton Oilers, like those who get into Rexall Place via the pass door, aren't exempt.

We are legitimately distressed with the Oilers failing to make the playoffs this year. We really thought when they held the 8th place position for all of 37.2 seconds they had turned the corner and the good times that we have all been promised for so long had finally arrived.

So where does a heartbroken fan run to in times of need? How about somewhere where the home team hasn't won anything in over 100 years and yet people still regularly part with their hard earned money to watch them rebuild for the 1,506th time. A Cubs game in Chicago is the perfect play.

Why it seems unlikely that the Nashville Predators would trade Shea Weber

It’s (an understandable) dream of Oilers fans to see Shea Weber traded to Edmonton. Not only is he from Western Canada, big, strong and capable, but he’d fill the #1 defenceman hole that Edmonton has had since Chris Pronger left town.

Those dreams seem destined to go unfulfilled.
