The Edmonton Oilers have been blessed with some of the finest teenagers on the planet these last three years. NHL equivalencies courtesy Gabriel Desjardins has offered clues each summer about the cold winter evenings and the young men who would score at a worthy clip. In 2011 it looked like Theo Peckham had solidified himself a regular spot on the Oilers blueline. In 71 games he'd scored three goals and 13 points and racked up 198 PIMs, but most importantly he was reliable defensively and physical. When Peckham is on his game, he makes smart, simple plays, kills penalties and is only noticeable when he hits someone.
He was like that in 2011, but last season he wasn't the same player.
I chatted with Peckham last week about regaining that form, overcoming the fight with Nathan Horton, his conditioning, Ralph Krueger and his love of paintball and cheeseburgers.

The on-going Shea Weber drama is making the deep summer a bit more interesting than it would have been otherwise. Will the Flyers snatch Weber away from Nashville and cripple the Predators in the the wake of possibly their most successful season ever? Will Poile and company match? If not, will the Preds GM turn to the demon drink in bitterness? Stay tuned to find out!
This week, Allan discussed the Weber issue (and much more!) with guests Tom Lynn, Harrison Mooney, Ryan PIke and Jonh Matisz.
