The Oilers end their franchise-high nine-game road trip tonight with a date in Denver, and they will look to salvage the trip with a victory. A win would make them 3-4-2 on the trip and keep them within five points of the playoffs.
If the playoffs are the goal, tonight is a must-win when you look at the standings.

Brett Clark, a veteran of 700 NHL games between the regular and post-season, has been a godsend for an Oklahoma City team that basically had to do a midseason rebuild once the 2012 lockout ended. Through 18 games he has 17 points and a plus-7 rating. Is he playing well enough that he’s going to get another NHL shot?

There’s a school of thought that suggests playoff hockey is war, and the team with the biggest, strongest players will carry the day every time. Is that kind of team necessary to win in the post-season, and if so what do the Oilers need to do to get there themselves?
