It's at this point in the NHL season that Oilers fans make a decision about how we are going to pass the time for the remaining 6 weeks of the season. Early excitement and God given right to unreasonable optimism has created a black diamond rated slide into misery and if it hasn't arrived already it is certainly on the horizon as seen in the scientific graph above.

Edmonton Oilers trade for Mike Brown

On Monday morning, the Edmonton Oilers' official Twitter feed announced that the club had acquired forward Mike Brown from Toronto in exchange for a fourth-round draft pick in 2014.

Fans of the Edmonton Oilers have been kicked in the junk so often the past six seasons there's barely any leather left on that damn shoe, and they took yet another pop in the pills watching their team mail it in with a 4-2 loss to the Minnesota Wild at the Xcel Energy Center Sunday.

Rest assured a game against the Minnesota Wild will be anything but a wild affair. The team plays a defensive style so boring the Pentagon is looking to develop a way to weaponize it and bring it into battle. "Project: Lethal Boredom"  is expected to be a fully functional option in the aresenal of freedom within a decade.

Making Highlights at Hockey Night

Working for CBC Sports and Hockey Night in Canada has been a dream of mine ever since I was a kid. In October of the 2011-12 NHL season, this dream became a reality.

My ticket into “the ceebs” was making highlight packs. I did that all throughout last season, and once the players and owners stopped bickering, I continued to do it this season.

I’ve had some people watch my highlight packs and ask questions like, “Why didn’t you put this in there?” “Why didn’t you mention this?” “Why did you put that in, but not this?” Those are all fair questions, because whether you agree with the editing decisions I make or not, there is a method to my madness.

Here is a little look at how I make highlight packs. For those of you reading this on the Leafs, Flames, or Oilers Nation websites, I know your team didn't play last night, but they're obviously regulars on Hockey Night in Canada, so you may like this, too.
