This was Steve Tambellini moments after winning the 2012 draft lottery, and since then he's added two important pieces to what he hopes will eventually be a playoff puzzle. He took Nail Yakupov first overall on June 22nd, added Justin Schultz on July 1st and along with Jordan Eberle, Taylor Hall and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins they are the future core of the Oilers.
If the Oilers are going to be more than playoff contenders on paper, Tambellini will need to look at moving any of the other young Oiler prospects once the lockout is over.
Stockpiling prospects is imperative for any successful organization, but most won't end up playing for the Oilers, so if Tambellini can acquire proven NHL talent in exchange for a prospect or two, he needs to make that move. The question is if he will have any cap space to make a few significant moves.

This is part two of a two-part article looking at the Winnipeg Jets in the Revisited Series. Part one can be found here.
In the previous article I had discussed the process by which True North Sports & Entertainment had acquired, and then relocated, the Jets. I detailed the scouting staff that had been retained, as well as reviewing their record at the draft and the consequences thereof. I reviewed Kevin Cheveldayoff and Claude Noel's records that warranted their positions within the organization, and we watched a video on why Gretzky is the Anti-Christ to Manitobans and how Samuel L. Jackson missed his calling as a junior hockey coach.
In this part I will look at Evander Kane, the Jets roster and recent additions, some season prognostications and my general summation of the state, and future, of the franchise.

Minor league seasons are not measured on wins and losses, but rather on prospect development. How many kids took a step forward, how many ran in place, and how many are lagging? In OKC, the pace is brisk and most of the arrows are headed in a very good direction.
