I guess the coaching staff was more nervous than all the rookies prior to the game, because they filled out the starting lineup wrong so Dustin Penner lined up in place of Ales Hemsky along with Sam Gagner and Taylor Hall. Luckily for Oiler fans, it wasn't a sign of how the game would go.

After last night's gutsy and surprising win over the Canucks, Wanye woke up this morning and sent me his proposed parade route. It was filled with his typical bright colours, arrows, unique drawings and I noticed it was the longest parade route I'd ever seen. It started in Clareview, ripped through Beverly, came down Gretzky Drive, through downtown, had a pit stop at the Liquor on 109 and then finished at the Legislature grounds. Clearly he had designed it after downing his 17th BL after watching Gregory Stewart pot the game winner in Vancouver last night.

Tonight Devan Dubnyk (probably--he's listed as one of the two G's for tonight, one imagines he'll get some time in goal) gets the first opportunity of pre-season to show Edmonton's management and coaching staff that he is the better man to back up Super Bowl Sunday this winter. IS he the better man? COULD the Oilers go with 3 G's (again)?

Based on tonight's lineup, don't be surprised to see a few preseason tilts in Vancouver. The Oilers have dressed someone in every weight class, except lightweight, unless Jordan Eberle's jab is as quick as his snapshot.

The Commissioner, Joey Moss, got the 6000 fans fired up with an energized rendition of O Canada and we finally got to see some scrimmaging in Oiler camp.
