It's completely understandable that a great many of NHL fans have taken a "Whatever, just tell me when it's done" stance toward updates about ongoing CBA negotiations (now that there actually are some) as days have turned into weeks and weeks have turned into months. Fair enough.

When you're the consensus 'best player in the tournament' and coming home without a medal, it can be difficult to find a silver lining. For Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, the scoring title (pending, but likely) will be of little consolation; what do we make of his performance? Yakupov's?

For the first time since 1998, Canada leaves the World Junior championships without a medal. Nail Yakupov scored two goals as the Russians won by a score of 6-5 in a sloppy, back and forth affair.

For the past 18 months everyone involved in the Downtown arena recognized there was a massive shortfall of $100 million, however, neither the city nor the Katz Group has come up with any viable options on how to fill that void.

I get asked all the time what is the most important skill for a young hockey player to master. I have spoken to many experts in this area and they confirmed my own opinion. Skating is the answer. I have always believed if a player can skate, get around the ice quickly and efficiently they have a chance to contribute to the game.
I am starting to think that there is another skill that is not above skating but right below it in terms of importance. On-ice awareness.
