With four strong performances in five December outings, and no true stinkers so far this month, the ‘Nikolai Khabibulin as MVP’ brigade is back out on the Oilers official website. An article from Oilers digital media assistant Ryan Dittrick currently graces the club’s front page, casually ascribing all of Khabibulin’s early season struggles to the penalty kill, and pointing to his recent (and quite impressive) performance as something that “has helped to shine light on the stellar play of the team’s number one goaltender; praise that’s not only deserving, but well overdue.”

Having made a decent living for 28 years by asking questions, many of them less-than-brilliant, I've got a whole bunch of them rattling around my oversized cranium regarding the Edmonton Oilers in the wake of that hideous 4-1 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs Tuesday.

Early tomorrow morning, the final cuts for Team Canada's world junior team will get a phonecall. The merciful coaching staff make the cuts early so the kids can hit the airport and (hopefully) avoid the media.
Two Edmonton Oiler prospects played tonight (against a team of CIS All-Stars) and will be watching late night television, counting minutes along with the clock radio and waiting for the phone to ring. Or not.

In 2007 the Houston Dynamo of the MLS made the playoffs, and were looking for their 2nd consecutive championship and had this highly motivating slogan of; DREAM. SCREAM. BELIEVE. It clearly worked as the Dynamo won their second straight title.
