As a player I always knew Oiler fans were passionate but now that I am a member of the media I am getting an even deeper understanding of their passion for this team. I get a ton of texts and emails while doing my show. They are full of ideas from trades to line combos. I like getting them but it is hard to fully express passion through texts. That is why I love getting all the phone calls!

At 6.05, 230 Jeff Beukeboom was a giant of a man who had no trouble winning battles, clearing the front of the net and disposing of the garbage scorers. He could also pass the puck and play defense, and enjoyed a quality NHL career.

Phil Cornet's shooting percentage refuses to cooperate. He keeps scoring goals at an exceptional rate in the AHL. At what point do we take this from "unsustainable" and "luck" to something resembling "skill"?

Ralph Krueger and his coaching staff want the Oilers to be a pre-gapping team. This is their new system and while some players have excelled at it, some have struggled.

Ryan Whitney hasn't adjusted as quickly as they would have liked, but they are still confident he will not only grasp the system, but excel at it.

Ryan O’Reilly is a very good player locked in a contract dispute with a division rival. Not only that, but his skill-set as a two-way centre who kills penalties, wins faceoffs and drives play in the right direction is a great fit for the Oilers’ organizational needs.

Despite that, they shouldn’t offer the restricted free agent an offer sheet.
